Keep reading to learn everything you need to know about this exciting new treatment for urinary incontinence in Mokena at Images.
What causes urinary incontinence?
Urinary incontinence, also called stress urinary incontinence, is characterized by a loss of control over the bladder and urinary flow. Some may experience the occasional urinary leaks, others may feel frequent, strong urges to urinate.
As time goes on, many feel a negative strain on their social and intimate lives, avoiding normal activities that put them too far from a restroom out of fear of leaking.
The biggest cause of urinary incontinence is age, though there are other factors that may put you at risk. For example, women who have experienced menopause, pregnancy, or childbirth are much more likely to suffer from bladder incontinence.
How is Viveve different from doing Kegels at home?
Repetitive contractions of the pelvic muscles that control the flow of urine are known as Kegel exercises. While you can do at-home Kegel exercises regularly to help treat the symptoms of your urinary incontinence, no at-home remedies or exercises will give you the tissue and collagen-building results of Viveve.
Our Viveve device uses state-of-the-art cryogen-cooled monopolar radiofrequency (CMRF) technology to gently deliver heat deep into the vaginal tissues (while simultaneously cooling the delicate surface tissue to ensure your comfort). This heat stimulates your body’s production of collagen, elastin, and other connective tissues, making the vaginal walls and labia thicker and tighter and increasing pelvic muscle control.
The best part? You can lie back and relax during this minimally invasive treatment!
Is this treatment for urinary incontinence painful?
During this treatment for urinary incontinence in Mokena, you may feel a warming sensation that is not considered uncomfortable. Immediately following treatment, the vagina may be slightly red, swollen, or tingling. However, all these side effects are usually tolerated well and last for 48 hours or less. Viveve treatments do not interfere with any regular activities before or afterwards (though we ask you to refrain from vaginal penetration for 48 hours).
How long before I see results?
Depending on your incontinence symptoms and goals for treatment, your Images specialist will recommend the proper course of treatment with Viveve.
Since collagen and elastin take time to build, optimal results will come in the weeks after your Viveve treatment. Once you achieve the desired results and your symptoms are under control, we recommend scheduling regular maintenance treatments for urinary incontinence in Mokena at Images Med Spa. This will ensure the symptoms of incontinence stay away for good.
